About Me

Hello! My name is Sophie Baboin, I’m a California based freediver, swimmer, surfer, and breathwork coach.

In my coaching practice, I focus on breathing and breath hold training for athletic and life performance. My passion is helping people feel supported as they reach for change - giving them the tools they need to continue forward. Breathwork is how I do that. From a student being safer as they get into the water, to achieving a new athletic milestone, getting a full night of deep sleep, or feeling steady through a normally stressful situation.

My own journey with breathwork began when I was 12 years old, when my aunt taught me to freedive and scuba dive. The feeling of being able to calmly dive, feel the pressure of the water, and explore was beyond impactful. Fast forward 20 years and while traveling in Costa Rica I discovered my first Surf Apnea course. Building on all I had learned from my aunt, this course transformed my life and breathing. By changing the way I breathe in simple ways my focus increased, my productivity exploded, and I became capable of achieving athletic milestones I’d never thought of trying before (completing my first Triathlon in April 2022).

Since that first course, I’ve continued learning obsessively. Becoming a certified breathwork coach through The Breathing Class, a Level 1 FII freediver, a Red Cross lifeguard, and a Global Professional Breathwork Alliance Certified Practitioner.

I now offer group and individual breathwork sessions, both on land and in the water.

The Global Professional Breathwork Alliance (GPBA) is a consortium of professional breathwork schools, trainers, and practitioners who support and promote the integration of breathwork in the world as an accessible and vital healing modality that facilitates physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual wellness. The GPBA is open to all breathwork practitioners and schools agreeing to uphold the principles of ethics and standards set forward by the Alliance. breathworkalliance.com
